Space Brothers -
Serious Rock from 'Out of this World'

Space BROTHERS (bio paraphrased in the interest of time) Originators of the SPACE BROTHERS, Paul Bass (Bass, Voc), Pete Bass (Drums, Voc), Frank Duron (Gui. Voc.), played their 1st show in 1986 at the Rockford summer celebration in their hometown of Rockford, MI. Word spread and they quickly became a favorite at many local gatherings around the Rockford party scene playing an energetic mix of blues based 3 piece crash n bash Rock originals and Classic Rock favorites. .................................................................................. In 1988 we recorded a 10 song tape at Rocky Lake Studio in Coral, Michigan that contained all instrumental pieces with the exception of one epic underground hit entitled "MaryJane". With this tape and a conversion school bus we set out on a western adventure in june of 1989 that finally ended in Dallas, TX in september of the same year. The band split ways there in the smoldering south. My Brother and i met up back in Grand Rapids after a year or so and formed a band with some really cool brothers from the Westside, a monster guitarist named Toby Feutz and his friend Jim Lidguard. Calling this band "The Nomads", we played many o' fun partys and were the college night house band every Wednesday at Martinis in Eastown for a few months. Tired of playing the covers all the time The Nomads stoped playing and shortly after that the Space Bros reformed with Frank. We wrote, rehearsed and recorded a brand new 10 song collection in 1991 and in no time moved up through the ranks of the bands that frequented the regions top music clubs until we were once again one of the most sought after acts in the area.

Tape was rolling and recording nearly every show we played over next couple of years and now and then the mix would actually be listenable. This was especially the case one Saturday in late may of 1992 when we set up on some hay wagons in a friends older brothers backyard and performed for a couple hundered kind folks at a campout party in the middle of Michigan. Frank slapped up a couple mics last minute and captured our sets nearly in their entirety. The exceptional mix that resulted is a true testament to how magical that event and that era of The Space Brothers really was. The tape of that night "Live At Steves Party in the North" sold a few hundered copies over the next year or so.

In 1993 while in the studio recording a new CD the original line-up of the Space Brothers split ways one last time(insert here a whole chapter about the tragic death of the late great Mick Wayne of David Bowies original band and how his U.S. musical endevour coincides with the sad and bizarre months leading up to the demise of the Space Brothers original line up). The CD we started would eventually see the light of day as "Wealthy Street"; more of a musical community effort produced by Frank that features a number of West Michigans finest musicians.

Over the next few years while traveling and embarking on various adventures me and my brother Paul met up from time to time in Florida and Georgia working on original music projects until we decided to head back home and establish a more tangible rock unit with a certain guitarist in mind. The 3 piece nucleus would then evolve to include the west sides very own Andy Ogrodzinski. We performed as The Bass Brothers Band for a couple of years playing a more loose style of originals and some heavy tributes to the masters. Rob Savage, the one of a kind left handed guitar man from the band "HatcH", found time to join in on the fun and even played in place of Andy at a few shows because Andy was also touring alot with Roberta Bradley and Gypsy at that time.

With a strong resolve to stay true to our musical convictions Paul and I, along with our new guitar slinger Andy, took some time and whipped up a new batch of songs. Once again The Space Bros emerged from Soundfield Studio ready to resurface to the world with a full length collection of original Rock, this time simply called "Space Brothers 2000"; our U.S. presidential campaign cd. But with all seriousness aside we followed up that release with another more instrumentally based full length disk called "A Word In Edgewise" in 2003. ........................................................................................... The Space Brothers have been described as Black Sabboth meets Zappa("Black Zappath"), or with the new line up as The Who meets the Allman Bros., etc., but mostly we hope if you put on a Space Bros record or hear us live you find that it rings true, grooves hard and takes you out of this world; Rock n Roll for all the right reasons... It'd be nothing without you; our Space Brothers and Sisters. Salute!, Pete Bass July 2007

Space Brothers - Crew Members

Pete Bass - Drums

Though it is impossible to pinpoint the location it is reported that Pete is an escapee of a molecular interdimensional protoplanet transport experiment carried out in a distant quadrant of a supercluster parallel to the Earth's sun.

Andy Ogrodzinski - Electric Guitar

Andy joined the Space Brothers when a high velocity cosmic ray particle produced by a brief yet powerful surgence in the time space continuum sent him hurtling out to a resort planet in the elliptical galaxy M86. Sitting in with the Bass Brothers, performing under various names and sorting out their next expedition, boasting an acute six string ability he immediately began assisting the brothers in their musical adventures. He continues to do so while creating many new and interesting destination possibilities for the Space Brothers on their galactic travels.

Paul Bass - Bass Guitar

At an early age Paul got lost in space when he strayed too far from the solar system to go fishing in a Black Hole. Through means of gathering oversized atomic particles mutated by an ultraviolet spectrum field he created the first ever recorded fractal reversal. This generated the necessary trajectory to propel him somewhat safely home. Upon return he began having jam sessions with his brother Pete.

Frank Duron - Electric Guitar

Frank Duron is a natural born guitarist, songwriter, singer, composer and all-around cool dude! A founding member of the band, Frank hooked up with the Brothers Bass during their days at Rockford Galactic High to form a jam project that clicked immediately and eventually took on the name Space Brothers. Frank, Pete and Paul performed for years, establishing themselves as one of the region's most entertaining groups.
